Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th the 28th of October, 1967. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also the first Roberts to move to Atlanta. Her father was a young man when he was interested in theatre. He performed on his Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions in Atlanta. When he joined in 1953 the Air Force in Biloxi, he was seen together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, the couple got married and in 1956 their son Eric Anthony was born. In 1957, the couple quit the Air Force and Walter was enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter worked with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family relocated in Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning show on local television for kids named Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. It was a venture that they funded themselves. In 1964 Betty Lou and Walter founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted about six years. In 1965, they welcomed two children to the family: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
