The singer released her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was among five songs that reached the top spots on Billboard as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 in addition to Billboard Hot 100. The track is special because, based on her Rap-Up interview she gave many of the listeners could identify with her journey of discovering their own love and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara integrates messages about love and kindness in her songs. All of it is a result of her personal experience as she suffered from mental health problems and insomnia. Reuters reported that she called her album "half tumultuous, half perfected". Therapy has helped her develop and encourages other artists to follow the same path. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since 1996. Her parents are of Italian origin. She was given a guitar from her parents at the time she was 10 years old, which sparked her passion for music. Three years later, when she was 13 years old, she started to sing her favorite tracks on YouTube. It was a great opportunity to show others the fact that she had the talent and the courage. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was what got her noticed. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and write her own songs.
